A winter storm bearing down on the Northeast last Thursday, promising heavy snow, high winds and cold temperatures, which will make commuting dangerous in the first working day of the new year.

2014's First Big Storm

 Overnight snow began to fall in New England and parts of New York, but is not expected to hit the real main storm until late Thursday. As much or more of snow was forecast in parts of the feet overnight Thursday to Friday, temperatures are expected to plummet, some areas may be slightly higher than the high point of zero, according to the National Weather Service.
